The founder and the publisher of the scientific journal “Metalworking” (ISSN 1684-6702) is the “Politekhnika” publishing house (St.-Petersburg), former Leningrad branch of the “Mashinostroenie” publisher, specialized in scientific and technical literature.

The magazine is registered with the Ministry of Press, Broadcasting, and Mass Media of the Russian Federation under PI No. 77-3106 dated April 10, 2000.

The journal publishes materials on the results of researches and describes the morden methods of treatment of metal and composite materials at different stages of the creation of engineering products.

The journal is included in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) and regularly publishes issues in the Scientific Electronic Library (http://elibrary.ru/title_profile.asp?id=8846), and is included in the IVIS electronic library systems.

The journal is included in the Metaphor system.

The mission of the journal is to maintain a high level of researching in mechanical engineering and to involve Russian researchers in the international scientific research field as well as to support scientific collaboration through acquaintance with each other's research.

Scientific Area

We publish:

  1. Articles about properties of metals, alloys, as well as coatings, methods of their application and causes of destruction.
  2. Analysis of the use of mechanical, abrasive, diamond, galvanic, electrical contact, electroerosive, ultrasonic, plasma, laser, thermal, stamping, plastic, combined technologies, as well as computer modeling and automation of processes.
  3. Articles describing properties, modeling, application and evaluation of tools and equipment, as well as instruments and equipment, methods to reduce friction and lubricants.
  4. Articles about the calculation methodology and selection and justification of the economic efficiency of materials and processes.
  5. Articles about strengthening and restoration of the equipment parts, repair and modernization of metalworking equipment.
  6. Articles about problems of waste recovery.
  7. Reviews about technologies.
  8. Thematic sections and issues of the journal in cooperation with the scientific institutions.
  9. Information about scientific and technical exhibition and seminars, scientific and technical literature.

Readership

The expected audience of the scientific journal is the scientists, PhD and students, leading specialists of R&D and development companies which work in the field metalworking and engineering.

Geographical Scope

As the main language of the journal is Russian, the geographical scope of the readership of the journal includes readers from Russian Federation and CIS countries, as well as Russian-speaking readers around the world. Metadata of the journal’s articles is translated into English which makes it visible to readers from any country in the world.
