The process of cutting with a tool coated on it is considered. Investigations of the stressed state of the cutting tool with coatings during the cutting process are carried out. Thread tap is selected as a tool for manufacturing threads. Con tact surfaces of the teeth of the thread tool have been preprocessed by magnetic abrasive finishing. As a result of the carried out researches on technological support of roughness of threaded surfaces it was established the influence of the state of the contact surfaces of the teeth, formed by the method of magnetic abrasive finishing, on the roughness of the lateral sides of the internal threaded profile. Modernization of the gear hobbing machine for manufacturing a globoid worm Modernization of the gear hobbing machine allows to produce a globoid worm without using an expensive tool. The billet under the globoid worm is installed between the collet and the earring. To cut the helical groove, the incisor head is used. There are 4 incisors in the incisor head. The incisors on the special device are exposed along the diameter D_e of the hollows of the globoid worm. The incisor head is mounted on a special mandrel to be installed on the working table. The design of the mandrel should have a mechanism allowing the cutting of the incisors in the height of the center of the axis of the spindle. The incisors are sharpened with the same value of X. By moving the sliding support, the workpiece is positioned relative to the center of the mandrel. The machine is configured as a worm wheel. When the next cutter comes out of contact with the workpiece before the entrance of the next cutter, the cutter's time passes through the angle γ. During this time, the cutter head is fed to the workpiece to remove the next allowance. As a periodic feed mechanism, a stepper motor with a hydraulic booster is used instead of the feed motor. The activation command is carried out from the sensor D, located on the table body and the cam K, fixed on the turntable fixed in synchronism with the cutter exit from the cutting zone.
